Why Cambridge chose to sponsor the
AFL Umpires Association
Cambridge is delighted to partner the AFL Umpires Association in the Promotions Program.
As Cambridge enters its fourth year of business in Australia and continues to grow, the time is right for Cambridge to commence promotional activity to promote our services. We have been looking for some time for a promotional activity that would allow our name to be promoted, but with a community spirit.
The importance of football to the Community should not be underestimated. In all regional and most metropolitan communities football is the glue that holds the community together. If you travel to a country town during the winter you will find a game of football in progress. Most people from the local community will attend the match; it has most probably been proceeded by a couple of netball games. And after the game the social life of the town usually centres around the football and netball clubs.
In addition to supporting this community involvement, we cannot think of another organisation that would promote the values of Cambridge better than the AFL Umpires Association. The Cambridge values of innovation, integrity, commitment, teamwork and care are complemented by the AFL Umpires Association values of Respect, Integrity, Fairness and Trust.
"Integrity is also a core Cambridge value – acting honestly, justly and with strength of character" says Cambridge CEO, Paul Serong. "By partnering with the AFL umpires we believe we send a strong message to the community that business and ethics can, and must, mix."
In launching this program, Cambridge have agreed and are committed to the next four seasons. This long term partnership will now mean that the AFLUA will be able to assist with conducting in excess of 150 umpiring promotional activities a season – 600 in total.
This should mean that the extremely important role of recruitment and retention of umpires is assured. This can only help the development of the game of Australian Rules Football.
